I broke Alan Webb's HS mile record with a... well, if anyone is actually reading this, I guess I'll be honest:

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to continue running as long as possible. I don't feel a need to run marathons; I would rather simply be able to run 5Ks and 10Ks for much of my adult life and at least get in a few miles until I'm pretty old.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I like chocolate shakes.

10 miles. Felt fine. I'm not sure why my toes are hurting. Perhaps it is related to the fact that I am running without insoles for the first time in years? I'm not sure.

10 miles with Tanner. A little slower. It's really hard to find the balance of eating so that I don't feel hungry during my run, or like throwing up. Hopefully for my hard long run tomorrow I prepare well!

13 miles from my apartment up the canyon. 5:48 pace overall. 6:09 pace on the way up, 5:28 pace on the way back. I was definitely chilling a little more on the way out, but you should also factor in that the turnaround point is 300 feet higher in elevation than the start. So they way back felt pretty downhill. Well, I'm super grateful to be back at it! Hopefully I can put some mileage in and get a lot faster. I'm planning on running the Rex Lee Run 5K to see where I'm at in early march. I'll plan on starting workouts next week!

One other note is that I didn't feel like my body was totally crushed afterward. It was hard for sure, but I'm excited to teach myself again to really get at it. It'll come.

I ran towards the lake loop to begin my 5 mile tempo. I ended up deciding just to run the lake loop itself since it would be a lot more open than the river trail. However, running 5:20 pace is much different from 5:50 pace, and running the loop all on my own with the wind on my face soon gave me that feeling you get the first time you work out in a while. So I decided to make it a 10-5-3-2-1 fartlek instead, though I cut out the one to avoid hurting my Achilles. I don't have a pace, other than that my first mile was somewhere around 5:06, but I felt a whole lot better on the 5-3-2 than the first ten once my body started getting used to it and I got out of the wind.

Uh oh, achilles didn't feel so hot. Tomrrow I'll either do a light workout on the intramurals, just run easy, or go to the gym.

Felt some hot Achilles pain so I went on a 25-30 mile bike ride up Provo canyon (past the turnoff for aspen grove- I just had an idea- that would be so much fun to bike up to Timp caves. Hopefully someday someone will do that with me). Maybe I went for a fast workout a little too soon.

36 minutes. That's a success considering what has happened before on Tuesdays. It was definitely thanks in part to running on grass. It's incredible how much better that is on my Achilles.

Didn't feel half bad. Interesting how I still can't do heel raises per niente essentially without pain, whereas I used to be able to do lots when I wasn't even running. I feel like there might be two seperare issues, one of which was taken care of well by taking out my inserts, etc. and the other is still there. But then again, if I keep on being able to run longer while feeling looser, I don't feel a need to change anything.
