Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

10 miles on a path that goes right along the river. That was nice.

Not sure if today counts as a workout or no, just 2 miles with a break in between alternating hard/easy 200s between 37-38 for the hard on the first mile and 32-34 on the second.

My last cross country race ever. It was somewhat reminiscent of my last high school XC race in that it was dissapointing. Frankly, as the second slowest runner to make it out of the midwest region, I probably did about as good as I was supposed to to beat about 40 guys in that race. It was indeed very deep. I'd say the athletic equivalent of my 83rd place finish this spring would be getting somewhere between 100th and 120th today, but that's just a guess. What is clear is this has not been my best season. Idk why that happened. I am a naturally grateful person and my mood will bounce back quickly. Unfortunately, I am also a realist and my confidence will not bounce back until my fitness does.

As far as the race goes, it went out very fast. My legs felt sizzled after a 4:36 opening mile. It was a beautiful course in Florida though. I passed between 1 and 8 people each split. Felt like I gave it everything I had.
